Visual Determination of UAV Attitude In-Flight.PDF

چکیده
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV’s) are finding increased application in both domestic and military applications. Most end users of UAV’s are not particularly interested in the flying platform itself, but rather in the destination, the timing, the cost and objectives of a particular mission. Many end users have very little training in aircraft flight, including model or remote controlled aircraft. The idea of a UAV that can be used in a ‘set and forget’ manner is very appealing, particularly in applications where the user is in a remote location such as outback Australia or the Antarctic. In such cases, having an experienced pilot on standby may be prohibitively expensive. Unfortunately there are substantial risks involved in both launching and landing a UAV. Any damage to the airframe or to sensitive payload equipment may make the use of UAV’s in such applications prohibitively expensive. This research examines the use of a typical domestic video camera and Commercial off-theshelf video capture hardware for determining the attitude of a small, under 5kg UAV, while in flight. This research was completed as part of an undergraduate thesis project at Monash University.

GPS Jamming Detection in UAV Navigation Using Visual Odometry and HOD Trajectory Descriptor
Auto-navigating of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) in the outdoor environment is performed by using the Global positioning system (GPS) receiver. The power of the GPS signal on the earth surface is very low. This can affect the performance of GPS receivers in the environments contaminated with the other source of radio frequency interference (RFI). GPS jamming and spoofing are the most serious a...
متن کاملVision Based UAV Attitude Estimation: Progress and Insights
Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are increasingly replacing manned systems in situations that are dangerous, remote, or difficult for manned aircraft to access. Its control tasks are empowered by computer vision technology. Visual sensors are robustly used for stabilization as primary or at least secondary sensors. Hence, UAV stabilization by attitude estimation from visual sensors is a very act...
متن کاملUAV Attitude Control using the Visual Horizon
We present a technique for measuring, controlling, and stabilizing the attitude of a UAV by using a camera to monitor the visual horizon. A vision-based algorithm incorporating color and intensity information is used to detect the horizon by segmenting the ground from the sky. The attitude of the aircraft is then measured using the position, shape, and orientation of the horizon profile in the ...
متن کاملA New Vision-Based and GPS-Signal-Independent Approach in Jamming Detection and UAV Absolute Positioning Assessment
The Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) positioning in the outdoor environment is usually done by the Global Positioning System (GPS). Due to the low power of the GPS signal at the earth surface, its performance disrupted in the contaminated environments with the jamming attacks. The UAV positioning and its accuracy using GPS will be degraded in the jamming attacks. A positioning error about tens of...
متن کاملA GPS Based Attitude Determination System for a UAV Aided by Low Grade Angular Rate Gyros
The Satellite Navigation and Positioning (SNAP) group at The University of New South Wales has been conducting research into high precision attitude determination using a multi-antenna single-frequency GPS array, aided by low grade angular rate gyros. The objective of the research is to develop an accurate, reliable attitude sensor solution at an affordable cost which can be implemented on UAVs...
